5.0/5 rating (3 votes)

  • Complexity: medium

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 ts active dry yeast
  • 3 ts sugar
  • 1 1/2 ts salt
  • 220-250ml warm water (not very hot)
  • 1/3 cup of olive oil

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, pour the water, add the yeast and the sugar and stir. Leave it for 15 minutes and then add salt and the olive oil. Stir the mixture again.

  2. Add the flour and knead until you get a dough that does not stick to your hands and the the bowl. (If the dough "insists" to stick add some more flour).

  3. Divide the dough into small balls and leave them covered for half an hour. Then open with your hands every ball in a pie. Fry each pie from both sides using a non-stick pan with some oil or bake them in preheated oven at 180º C until golden brown.

Tips

Favorite and useful! Greeks use them to make "souvlaki", but they can also be the alternative for a quick pizza base or a homemade snack with some nice dip. Make your own "pita" breads.
