Do you know Plaka? The old neighborhood, that’s located in the shadow of the “holy rock” of the Acropolis, where picturesque narrow streets and beautiful houses make this one of the most wonderful places in Athens?

Here the old traditional taverna “Damigos” has welcomed people alike since 1864. Nostalgic memories from the past abound in wooden picture frames displayed along with proverbs and mottos of famous writers, as well as golden awards for the quality of the food and wine. The interior of the taverna is cosy. It's specialilty dish is well-known and famous: deep fried cod fish (“bakaliarakia). This taverna is run by the Damigos family and situated in the basement of number 41 Kidathineon Street, and maintains the same folkloric style since it first opened. For over a hundred and forty years it has served fried cod fish and aromatic wine from Mesogeia.
