Ingredients

  • 200g petit beurre biscuits
  • 500 ml milk
  • 70 g sugar (4 ½ tbs)
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tbs corn flour
  • 4 tbs all purpose flour
  • 150g couverture chocolate grated

Directions

  1. Heat the milk. Mix in a bowl the sugar, the corn flour, the all purpose flour and the egg. Add some of the warm milk and stir with the wire whisk.

  2. Pour the mixture into the boiling milk and keep stirring with the wire whisk until the cream thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  3. Add the grated chocolate and stir the cream again. "Sandwich" two or three biscuits together with spoonfuls of cooled chocolate cream and serve.

Tips

Petit Beurre type biscuits hold a special place in Greek homemade dessert recipes and grandma’s sweets since 1922, when Maria Papadopoulou, a native of Constantinople, brought her recipe to Piraeus.
