  • Ready in: several days
  • Complexity: medium

Ingredients

  • 200g fresh thickly ground coffee (strong, with no added fravours, e.g. espresso, etc.)
  • 1 bottle vodka (700ml)
  • 600g sugar
  • 600ml water
  • vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

    1. Add the coffee to the vodka and leave in a sealed jar for 10-15 days.

    2. After 10-15 days, boil the sugar and water (and vanilla, if using) for about 10 minutes, mixing until you have a syrup. Leave the syrup to cool and then mix with the vodka and coffee mixture. Leave to stand for another 7 days.

    3. Drain the mixture (to remove coffee grounds) and store in a pretty bottle. The liqueur is ready.

Tips

Coffee liqueur is especially useful in pastry-making (and, of course, in any recipe thats asks for Kahlua)
