Cinnamon drink

  • 1 1/2 liter water
  • 800g sugar
  • 6 cinnamon sticks, Ceylon, or any other strongly flavoured variety
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • a little powdered cinnamon


    1. In a pot, boil the sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Leave the mixture to boil for 20 minutes and remove any foam that forms on top of the water. Lower the heat and leave the syrup to set for another 10 minutes. 

    2. add the lemon juice, mix and remove from the heat. Sprinkle with cinnamon powder and leave the mixture to cool. Pass the mixture through a sieve, place in bottles, and store in the fridge.

    3. Serve by diluting some of the syrup with water and ice.
